S.H.M.I.L.Y Challenge Day 7–His Mind

Today the author is talking about the importance of praying for the mind of our husbands.  She realized that the men have to deal with lies about they could fail.  According to her

it doesn’t matter what temperaments or backgrounds husbands’ had, they experienced the same kind of lies in their mind. …  all men have an enemy who wants to undermine what God desires to do in their lives.  Women have the same enemy, but men seem to be more vulnerable to his attacks in certain areas.  …   A wife can pray that her husband ill discern the lies and hear words like hope, prosperity, possibility, success, and new beginning.

When someone believes the lies in his/her head, that person can be prone to diseases like depression, bitterness, anger, fear, rejection, hopelessness, loneliness, rebellion, temptation and so on.   I’ve seen it in someone close to me – don’t worry it’s not my husband.   But I see what lies of the mind can do to someone.   That person can start building walls around himself/herself and become more isolated.   You try to reach out but not matter what you say your words get twisted from their original meaning or intent.   Not fun.  Believe me.    You don’t want this for your spouse.  It breaks your heart.  It breaks relationships.   It is a powerful destruction weapon from the Father of lies.

Lord I pray for Your protection on my husband’s mind.  Shield him from the lies of the enemy.  Help Rob to clearly discern between Your voice and any others.  May he thirst for Your Word and hunger for Your Truth so he can be equipped to recognize wrong thinking.  Help him to resist the thoughts that are lies.  Help Rob to be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let his requests be made known to You; and Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard his heart and mind (Philippians 4:6-7).  Finally, whatever things are true, noble, just, pure, lovely, of good report, having virtue or praiseworthy, let him think on these things. (Philippians 4:8).  Amen.

Mark 12:30/Deut 6:4-5

Love the Lord you God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all you mind and with all your strength.

Tomorrow the chapter is covering His Fears.
