Wordless Wednesday

Please note that the fish went back into the water because it is not Bass season yet in Ontario...

The famous BOOKS

As promised, I've taken picture of the books my son Alexandre won from Scholastic.   Tons of new books for little minds that love books.   All my three boys just love taking a book and looking at it or hearing mom or dad reading.   Alexandre is going to be able to read by himself soon so that's exciting.

Thank you Scholastic for these wonderful books!

UNBELIEVABLE!!!

Supper time tonight...   I am alone with Alexandre and Jérémy since my husband went fishing with Dominic.   Having a little conversation with my son about school stuff...

Out of the blue, he once again tells the story of another little boy in his class saying that he wants to marry another little boy from the class.   It isn't the first time it is happening and we talked about it with him already.  He knows that God has not intented marriage to be between same sex.   However, I am quite surprised that this is coming out again.  That's when he tells me that the teacher mentioned that now it is possible for two men to marry... or two women for that matter.

It took me by surprise.   For goodness sake the kids are 5 or 6 years old.   Why on earth a teacher would pass a comment like this in class.   Can't we keep their innocence a little bit longer.   And he is going to a catholic school...

To be honest, I knew that the government is looking into introducing this sort of teaching but I wouldn't have thought that catholic school would be affected.

Just talked to my husband...  He is determined to pull him out of school immediately.  I want to have HSLDA behind us... so I am calling right away to get my membership number from the homeschool association in our area.

Honestly, I am stressed... Still wondering if I will be able to do it with the baby coming at the end of the year.   I've got the math program and ordered the book Come Sit By Me...  Still have to check the French program for reading and writing.    I know that it is the best decision I am doing for my son...   but the enemy is playing with my mind.

Please pray...

I knew it would happen....

I had this strong feeling that if we go camping on Wednesday we would come back on Thursday and Canada Post would have tried to deliver the box for Alexandre.... Well, as soon as we arrived, I checked the door and there was the little piece of paper saying they tried to deliver the BOX.
The BOX comes from Scholastic Canada. Alexandre had participated to a contest back in January and he got selected... 50 books for 50 kids to celebrate their 50th anniversary! So the BOX had arrived. After a quick supper, we drove to pick it up. Believe it or not, from the 50 books, we had one already in French, one that we have in English and one that I need to read before hand (about a witch going to the fairies...). The rest is wonderful. Alexandre had even borrowed a book from the livrary at his school two weeks ago that he loved very much. The robot-dog (I am translating here...). Well this book is in the BOX. He is so excited... Got a few Scooby Doos and other things like games and activity books.
I am very curious to figure out the value of this BOX.
Already have one book read - last night Alexandre picked one from the BOX to read before bedtime.
I promise to include picks soon... Last night was crazy with unpacking the van and getting to the swim course to find it cancelled... What a day!

Seven things about me

I've been tagged... my first one! Horray! I need to write down seven things people don't know about me... Mmmm! Let me think. Too bad I already announced the pregnancy, that would have been one!!!
1) My favorite meal during summer is called "guédille"... You must be wondering what the heck it is... You take a hot dog bun, you put chopped onions, mustard and relish at the bottom of it. Then you had coleslaw made with cabbage and carrots and mayonnaise. You top it with french fries and ketchup. DELICIOUS! I love to surprise guests with this out of the ordinary meal. It is something well known in Québec. Various version of it exists some with different ingredients in it like tomatoes.... I am sticking to the one my cousin made me discover when I was a teenager.
2) I don't wear makeup... rarely anyway... mostly for big events like wedding and even then it is very light.
3) I have a Master degree in Information Technology...
4) I met my brother-in-law and his cousin before meeting my future husband... at church!
5) I love sci-fie shows like Star Trek and Star Wars... I am not a major fan as I don't know everything regarding these movies but I enjoy them.
6) I was once considered the perfect wife... My husband had went to a teenager place to buy some comics and while talking he told him that I was reading more comics than him. The guy looked at him and said "Wow! You have the perfect wife!". Hi hi... Another guy from Toronto asked my husband if I was letting buy the collection we went to pick up once. And again a similar reaction. The poor fellow was selling it because his girlfriend was sick of it.
7) We once bought 89000+ comics. We had 190 boxes in our garage all summer and we did lots of garage sale for comics. We had a blast that summer... Still have some of these boxes in our basements.... Totally crazy... We got them through E-Bay. I still can't believe we did that!!!
Voilà! Here's the 7 things people might not know about me...
If you are reading this, you are tagged, please have fun a little bit and try to figure out 7 things someone don't know about yourself...

A not so good day

I've being feeling cranky, crabby and emotional all day... And tired too! Oh boy! Sooooo tired. Mind you, I know why I am tired but still somehow today it is harder to control the crankiness and the emotions.
I just watched Extreme Makeover Home Edition... Another show that made me cry... My heart is heavy right now for various reasons and it didn't help to watch this.
Oh boy! My dear husband gave me a Chicken Soup for the Soul Mother & Son book and this is another one that makes me cry...
Crying is good but when you are tired, ouf, it is exhausting...
I am planning to go to bed early today - after the swimming courses mind you. Need to drag myself there... don't really feel like it.

Returning to your first love

We have this series at church right now about returning to our first loves... like evangelism, reaching out to the community, prayer and so on...
Anyway, I have been returning to my first love as well in the last few weeks. For the second time this Sunday I was in a skit and LOVE IT! Okay there was the usual stress before going on the stage and the fact the English is not my first language (I am French-Canadian...) but I just enjoyed myself.
I used to do plays when I was in high school and cegep (equivalent to beginning college in Quebec). Then when I went to university I stopped for whatever reason...
A few weeks ago my husband and I made a skit about the Trinity. I was playing the little girl and he was my dad. It was fun. This time, Shawn and I did a skit on evangelism presenting the idea of the fun cruise tied with the Way of the Master. Again I enjoyed myself... Fun Fun Fun!
For those of you who would like to know more about the Way of the Master please check their website... Remember Kirk Cameron from Growing Pains. He is part of this new way of evangelizing people. We went through the basic training and loved it.

Another surprise this week

Yep!  We got another nice surprise this week.  See the picture above?  This is our brand new trailer...  We were not expecting to have it before the long week-end in May but it did...  So this week, they will insteand a special fan in the bunk bed area and it will be delivered to our camping site on Friday just in time for the long week-end.  HORRAY!

Which means that this week I have to look for bedsheets for the bunk beds (2 singles and 2 doubles).   Can't wait to personalize my little camping space.   No waterslides for me this summer but the boys will enjoy it.
Forgot to take inside pictures... Silly me!   But I promise to post some as soon as I have some.

Heard that there is lots of black flies this season.  Hopefully it won't be too bad this coming week-end!
Now we just have to find a vehicule who will pull this thing so that we can travel a bit.   Being shopping a lot but we are in no rush whatsoever.   Keeping an eye open...

Mud Oven Experience

Recently, I went with a bunch of ladies to a place called Mud Oven.  In there you buy something you will paint and a week later you get the product finished.

It is my second time to the place.  LOVE IT!   In there I can open up to a whole new world: painting.   My maternal grand-mother used to paint when she was younger.  I even have two of her paintings hanging in my dining room.  She had done them on roller blinds.  Back then, there was not a lot of money so she used what she had...

My paternal grand-mother was painting too...  Maybe it is in my blood.  Who knows...   But for now I am sticking to patterned stuff...  Maybe one day when my kids will be grown I might take a painting course...

So here's what my plaque look like before going through the oven...

And here's the results...  I just got it this morning at church.  I am speechless!  Never thought it would come out like this!

Changes in our lives...

As many of you know, we are considering homeschooling for the Fall and we have three boys age 5 (almost 6), 3 and 17 months. Well more changes are expecting at the end of the year... Please check out the blinkies to see what I am talking about...

Prayers will be needed for various reasons. I had three c-sections so far and this will be my fourth. There is some chances that the c-section will be before the due date as when my doctor did the last one my uterus was thin were the cuts were made. Anyhow, I strongly believed that our family wasn't complete and I had peace about it. So I am taking one day at a time and Fully Relying On God (FROG).

My opinion on Spider-Man 3

So last night, some friends of ours came to babysit our boys and we were able to go see Spider-Man 3.   Thanks Bryan and Tracey... Appreciate it!

The movie is okay but between you and me there was too many new character and too much fighting.   It is the last part of the trilogy and I feel as though they went a bit fast on certain aspects... and there was part of the movie I would have removed.  But if you have seen the first two, you need to see this one.

On the other hand, I can see how to use this movie for sermons...   The symbiote is black and brings out the bad out of you.   You can see how Peter Parker becomes very bad and a jerk.   It also affects another person.  So between you and me this is a very good illustration of SIN.

This is a PG 13 movie if I remember correctly and there was children younger than that in the theater...  Lots of violence and events that I would prefer kids to be protected from.   Good movie for parents who have seen the first two Spider-Man.   But if your kids are younger than 13, don't bring them...   as a pre-teen or even a teenager, it is a good movie to start discussion on various subjects.

We felt the same way after the last X-Men movie.   These trilogy thing something sucks while other ones are very good (like the Pirates of the Carribean).   Anyhow, the next movie of super-heroes coming out this summer is Fantastic Four.   Knowing what we know now, we will go not expecting anything.  But the Silver Surfer is introduced so... stay tuned!

Date Night !!!! Off to see Spider-Man 3

Yep! We have one rare date night tonight and we are planning to go see Spider-Man 3. Can't wait to be honest as I loved both the first and second movies...

We are comic fans... and I've found some blinkies to make it known... My boys loves Spider-Man and Batman and Superman and Flash and Hulk... to name only a few of them! Justice League is also something they would like to see but we wait a bit... When we know one show do not have a lot of violence in it, then they can watch it... otherwise they have to wait.

Talking about blinkies... I'm starting to think I might be addicted to it! I have a couple of other ones to add soon!!! Keep an eye on it!

Sickness around the house

Yesterday I woke up having trouble breathing and my sinuses bugging me... I got an appointment with my own doctor at 430pm. There he diagnosed me with bronchitis and sinusitis. As if I need this. But hey there is a reason and maybe I need to learn to slow down a bit and not do too much...
This morning, Jeremy woke up with a bad cough. So I brought him to the clinic close to home since it is hard to see our own doctor. Fortunately his lung and broncos are clear as well as his throat. But he does have croup.
So... I was trying very hard to get someone to come for about 1 hour because I wanted to go to the open house at the school BUT since nobody is available... I will take the time for a nap. I need to rest. And I will put the humidifier on in the baby's room. Hopefully, his croup won't last too long... It's not fun to take care of sick kids when you are in bad shape yourself.

A little bit about ME

During the week-end we had an activity of making a collage from things found in magazines which will represent us.   We had a time limit to do so...  Here's what I came up with!

Collage about me...

So here is what I said when we presented it...  The Quebec flag represent where I come from, I was born and raised in Quebec.  The French represent the fact I am French-Canadian but most of all I AM CANADIAN!

The fish shaped orange reprenset christianity and also the fact that my husband introduced me to fishing last year and I enjoy it... (the fishing part - I am not in the mode of putting the bait on the hook yet and taking the fish out of the hook!).  Faith is something we need and experienced in our life with a multitude of aspects from contracts for the business to having children.

Do I have to explain the chocolate piece there???   I didn't think so.   The little cake with the pineapple is representing my love for sweet and PINEAPPLE.  Mmmm!

I am a Mother and I am a stay at home mom.   The word HARVEST represent the harvest for the Lord that needs to be done as well as our hope to plant a church.   The Nutrisse represent the fact that Ido dye my hair and it is the company I am using... Thanks to my husband who does my color monthly, I don't have my gray hair... (it is really bad since it is genetic in my family!).

The little birdhouse shows my love for birdwatching... The butterfly is one of the bugs I really love... I couldn't find the ladybug or the dragonfly, so butterfly it is!

The image with the people bent together represent the fact that sometimes, we need to be flexible to situations and adapt ourselves to things coming to us.  Not easy sometimes but feasible.

VeggieTales represent our love for these videos.   We were major fans of them even before we had kids...

There is an image with stamping things on it...  I love stamping and card making as well as scrapbooking.   So this represent my artsy side.

The little boy in the water on the top represent my love of travelling and also the fact of having three boys.

Finally, I represented the homeschooling part with the picture with the little girl writing with chalks.   Okay I don't have a girl but deep down I wish I would have one...   Who knows maybe it will happens... If not, I trust that God will bring me daughter-in-laws with whom I will have a ball and be good friends.

Voilà!   This is all you will have about me in there.   I wish I had more time to have included the wife and love side of me...  But it is there!!!

I loved doing this little exercise...  It was fun.  I recommend it to anyone who is planning a retreat.   Just ask people to bring some magazines and scissors and everyone has access to the magazines.

How to make...

... BREAD!

At the field trip at the Canadian Children's Museum today we learned how to make bread...   The kids really enjoyed it and it was really hands-on.

After adding water, honey and yeast, this is what the mixture looked like:

Then after a few minutes... the yeast has eaten the honey and it got BIG!!!

It was now time to add the flour - the job of my son, Alexandre.

Salt was included after by one of his classmates and then it was mixing time...

With a bit of hands-on....   Funny feeling for them!

After that, they all got a little piece to mold in a little bread.

And in the oven, they went.   After a little activity of recognizing the different types of bread we can find around the world and a special delivery to different part of the world, the kids got the chance to eat their little bread.  Here's the finished product.

One for mom and one for son!  Mmmm!  Good...

Now, mind you, we do have a bread machine at home and sometimes Alexandre does help.   But it was fun to do.

Here's the recipe:

3/4 cup of water
1 tbsp of honey
Mix well together!

Add 1 tbsp of yeast
Let rest for about 7 minutes...

Add 2 cup of flour (we had whole wheat flour!)
Add 1 tsp of salt
Mix well with a spoon then use your hands...

Shape in the form of bread you would like to have.
Put in the oven.

Hip Hip Horray, Alexandre won!

Well , today was field trip with the class of my son. More details soon about this.
On the way back in the bus, I realized I had a message on the cell phone so I picked it up and my husband is telling to call him back when I have a minute. Which I do right away amidst the kids having fun in the bus. So he tells me that Scholastic Canada called. I'm surprised and asked "Why?". That's when he told me that Alexandre won a contest. I had registered him for a contest and he won 50 books.
Yes you read right... 50 BOOKS! Horray. All in French... Super! I'm really excited. It reminds me the time I participated to a contest with Bibliothèque Rose (a french series) and my mom was telling me that I shouldn't bother because we never win in these things... Well I had won a box of Bibliothèque Rose books back then. Unfortunately, I don't have them anymore... But I still remember my mom's reaction when she learned I won. She just couldn't believe it.
So in a few weeks, we should get the box and you can bet I will post some pictures of it... I am VERY curious to see which books will be in there...
That's a nice surprise on a very tiresome day. I'm exhausted....
